backgammon

jcI love backgammon. I started playing when I was younger - my parents had this really neat set on our coffee table in the living room when I was a kid, and it caught my attention early. The backgammon set my parents had would be considered retro now - the case was this weird rust colored corduroy, and when you opened it, the inside marks were 2 shades of brown suede. You can’t get any more 1970’s than that! Well, actually, you can - the new spokesperson (spokestiger?) for backgammon is a swinging cat named Jean-Claude who looks like a holdover from the 70’s with his open shirt and bell bottoms. His schtick is that he’s the #1 player at BackgammonMasters, and he’s part of a 5 part animated series called “Life According To Jean-Claude”. Original, yes? At BackgammonMasters.com visitors can play trivia games and can even give suggestions for future Jean-Claude scripts and plots - very ground-breaking!

If you’re new to the game of backgammon, you might be surprised at how fun and addictive it is. I’d be willing to be that a lot of people my age don’t know how to play the game, and learning online is a great way to try it out. And while you’re playing the game, don’t forget to check out Jean Claude - you can forward his clips to friends and invite them to a game with you!

Wow…this makes me want to start backgammon. I have honestly always made fun of the sport, but now I am more open minded!

Backgammon is a great game. I still am horrible at it but it is fun and a good change from just playing Blackjack and Hold ‘Em.
