spot check your health insurance for the best deals

Here’s a shopping topic most of us don’t (or try not to) think about - health insurance!

Most of us probably have health insurance coverage through our employer. Do you ever review your coverage and compare it to
other health insurance quotes to make sure you’re getting the best deal? For example, we’ve had family health insurance through my husband’s employer since before I worked, and it’s always been a great deal. When I started working several years ago, I didn’t even consider getting health insurance through my employer since we had always just…done it the other way. Kind of dumb to just assume, right?

I did review the coverage eventually and it was comparable to what my husband was given, but my employer also offered a separate vision plan…something my husband’s employer did NOT! I was able to sign up for vision coverage for only $16 a month, and that covered our whole family. In the past year, my kids all had eye exams, and I’ve had an eye exam and received new glasses which WOULD have cost me over $400. My cost? $192 for the coverage plus a few $10 copays. My savings? Well over $500!

affordable health insurance is already being offered to you!
