After thinking I was done with back to school shopping, we returned to Target and dropped another $100 last night. Thankfully, that included 3 backpacks and 3 lunch boxes, but it also included a calculator, special binders and dividers, and color coded folders. Most of that was for my oldest, who is going into middle school. The biggest ripoff - orange folders, which were a specific request on her supply list. Every other color folder was 10 cents in the school supply section, but they didn’t have orange. We found them in office supplies, but those folders (same size, same style) were 42 cents!
I really hate it when stores don’t carry the same merchandise at all of their locations. Especially all of the locations in one area. I understand when a Target in Ohio carries snow shovels, and one in Florida doesn’t. But my husband was in a Target near his job last week and saw something he liked (an outfit, for me). I couldn’t find it online, so we went to our local store together. No dice. It wasn’t a clearance outfit, in fact, there was a whole rack in the store he was in. Why isn’t it in a store 20 miles away? I used to work at Target, and the plan-o-grams from store to store weren’t that different!
It’s hard to think about swimwear when it’s 50 degrees outside, but I did it! I was out and about tonight and stopped into Target to get a few things, and was distracted by the racks n’ racks of swimwear in the women’s section. (Target puts that stuff right up front to get me over there!)
On a whim I tried on 3 suits, decided I couldn’t live without 2, and voila - I’ve got my swimwear for this summer! I found a picture of one - you can see I’m a sucker for polka dots:
The other is sort of a pastel plaid design - of course, not on Target.com. That’s ok - I still have much Target love!

I’m not ashamed to admit I purchased art at Target. I can’t afford an original Van Gogh or Picasso, and I liked what I found at Target, so I plunked down $100 and now I’ve got a lovely framed floral print hanging in my family room. I attempted to find it on the Target website to show it off, but alas - I can’t. What I did find was ten times the amount of art in the store though - there were literally 200+ pages of pictures to choose from! And art for every budget as well, from reproductions of famous art, like Starry Night to $500 landscapes to $20 prints for a child’s bedroom.

It’s not much, but I was excited to find a clearance endcap of dishwasher tabs at Target this week, marked down to less than $4 a package. They were the bonus packs too - with 6 free tabs included. I don’t usually use these, but I’m always willing to try something new, especially if it’s on sale. So I bought all six on the endcap! Perimeter perusing pays off once again…
Anyone else have a good Target find this week?

I went to Target last night after dinner with friends, and left, $350 later, feeling refreshed and energized. (And feeling stupid for forgetting my Target 10% off coupon!)
My big ticket items were new quilts for my son’s bunkbeds and new drapes for his room, and his sister’s room. They get great light in their rooms from the southern exposure, but it always tends to make their rooms about 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the house, so I thought some drapes would help to block out the heat. The set is called “Preppy Guy” and features red, cream, and denim colors in the patchwork. I got the preppy guy drapes to match the bedding, which are a denim material with red stitching. Then, I headed over to the drapery rods and found a whole endcap of rods and drapes on clearance. Some were repacks, like the package I ended up buying, but I checked, and all the pieces were there, and it was half price. (That perimeter perusing pays off!)
In the drapery aisle, I also found a thick drape in a white tweed for my daughter’s room. She already has a valence up, so I grabbed a double rod to install so we could have the drape hang under the valence. I also spotted brightly colored shower curtains made out of a cotton duck material in white, pink, lime green, and blue, and toyed with using those as her drapes for a few minutes. In the end, I decided to go with my original choice. Now, if only my husband were home to hang the drapes up!
